Customer Story Tiger Trailers

Tiger Trailers

Building the trailers that move the nation

Tiger Trailers designs and manufactures trailers and rigid trucks for supermarkets, parcel firms, bakeries, and haulage companies. Producing thousands of units annually, they are a £100 million business employing 270 staff. Based entirely in Cheshire, Tiger Trailers is also deeply committed to supporting its local community.

As the company marked its 10th anniversary, Tiger Trailers knew that to keep up with their industry’s demands their digital presence needed a major overhaul. Their old website, while functional, was cumbersome, slow and no longer reflected the company’s position as a top-five player in the industry.  It was time for an upgrade.

Oliver Hammond, PR & Marketing Manager at Tiger Trailers, shares how their website transformation and partnership with 34SP have contributed to their success.

What role does the website play for Tiger Trailers?

“Our website is far more than just a digital brochure, it’s central to our brand’s image and credibility. While we don’t sell trailers online, we rely on our site to showcase who we are. As a B2B company, our website tells customers that they’re working with a leading player in the industry. If our site is down or sluggish, it sends the wrong message.

Since I joined Tiger Trailers, I’ve been focused on improving how people perceive us. The website is now a reflection of our ambition, recognising us as a top player in our sector. It’s also at the heart of our SEO efforts, helping us stay visible and accessible in a niche market.”

Why did you decide to move to WordPress?

“We decided to move to WordPress because our previous website was hosted on a Windows environment which made updates difficult and time-consuming. The process of editing and developing the website was slow, clunky, and far from user-friendly. There were many additional software and hardware hurdles that made what should have been a simple task unnecessarily complicated.

We needed a platform that was both reliable and flexible, allowing us to make changes quickly and efficiently. That’s why I advocated for switching to WordPress.”

Why did you choose 34SP as your hosting platform?

“Having worked with 34SP before, I already knew they were dependable and offered exactly what we needed. Their WordPress-specific hosting made the migration effortless—it was as simple as logging in and letting them handle the heavy lifting. They took care of everything from staging environments to database migration, ensuring a smooth transition without any errors. I trusted them completely, and they delivered.

Any apprehension over switching our public website from Azure to a LAMP environment quickly faded, as we’ve had zero downtime with 34SP’s WordPress solutions, plus our site is fast, reliable, and scalable, supporting our growth seamlessly.”

Have you seen specific benefits since switching to 34SP?

“Absolutely! The performance improvements were immediate. Our site is now faster, more reliable, and easier to manage. Updates are a breeze and there’s no more struggling with convoluted processes.

The support from 34SP is exceptional, even when it comes to troubleshooting third-party plugins. They’ve gone above and beyond, fixing issues when we’ve made mistakes. Their proactive approach to customer support is rare and invaluable.”

What advice would you give businesses considering migrating their website to WordPress?

“I would highly recommend WordPress. There’s really nothing to be afraid of. It’s incredibly easy to use, and we’ve had no security issues whatsoever. The site has never gone down, and we’ve never had any problems accessing or editing it. It works smoothly, is responsive and performs quickly.

Many enterprise companies may use their own custom CMS or larger platforms, but for growing SMEs like ours, WordPress is absolutely fine.

Here are my top tips for anyone thinking about making the move:

1) Choose a trusted partner to handle the details

Even if you have a good understanding of hardware and software, it’s important to have a reliable company that can manage the complexities of the migration process. This will allow you to focus on other aspects of your business.

2) Start with a properly configured staging environment

Ensure that the staging environment is set up perfectly before moving on to the next steps. This helps avoid any surprises when transitioning to the live site.

3) Trust the process

Once your staging environment is set up, hand over the reins to a technical expert (in our case 34SP) to handle the complex tasks such as migrating the database, updating IP addresses, and ensuring all files work seamlessly. You should be able to trust them to get it right, with minimal involvement on your end.

Finally, what’s next for the Tiger Trailers website?

“We’re planning to make some exciting updates. Video content is becoming a bigger part of our strategy, so we’re featuring more video on the homepage to showcase our products. As video plays a larger role, we need a fast and reliable server that can handle it seamlessly.

We’re also looking to expand our customer portal and documentation. As our customer base grows, we want to make more resources available on the public-facing site, including additional portal materials and detailed documentation.
SEO will remain a top priority as we continue to focus on maintaining our position in the market. We’re committed to ensuring the site stays fast, relevant, and meets the needs of our users.”
