The eagle-eyed amongst you might’ve noticed it’s been quiet on the blog front for well, frankly longer than we’d like.  Contrary to the digital tumbleweeds here, it’s actually been a very busy eighteen months in our customer experience and dev departments.  In an effort to get back onto a more timely schedule, here’s the major news from behind the scenes of late.  TL;DR: we’re kinda obsessed with continual improvement.

Monarx security

Our cluster hosting plans now include Monarx – an advanced threat mitigation system – free of charge.  We’re very selective about the external providers we choose to work with, but after testing Monarx extensively for some time, we’re thrilled with the direct impact this should have on your hosting experience.  Monarx works quietly in the background, reviewing file changes in real-time.  From there, the tool works proactively to detect and mitigate against an array of threats.  While we provide a free service to help our clients get back on their feet after an exploit or hack, we’re confident Monarx will help reduce these incidents.

If you’re hosted on one of our legacy platforms, please do get in touch, we’d be happy to tell you how you can migrate to our newer infrastructure.  Alongside Monarx, our newer platforms (WordPress, Professional, and Reseller Hosting) all offer a newer, more advanced architecture.  These are built completely in-house, are blazingly fast, and support far more modern software packages.  Speaking of which…

Cluster Reseller platform

It’s been a little while since we launched our all-new Reseller Hosting platform.  Until now, we’ve been fairly quiet on this one, mainly working to contact existing Reseller clients and helping them migrate to the newer hosting environment.  The cluster platform is one borne from years of development work, ultimately realising a platform that is 100% built in-house.  For resellers this means no third-party control panels – the software is now completely designed and developed by ourselves.

This gives us maximum freedom and flexibility to provide a fast, secure, and scalable platform.  If you’d like to make the move you can do so manually using our self-service migration tools documented here.  Our team is also happy to help move your sites and data should you wish, though do note the process is first come, first served so there may be a wait while we move other clients onto the new platform.

ISO 27001, 14001, 9001 certification

It’s been a year since we achieved our certification for the ISO 27001 standard.  Last month saw a satellite audit, refreshing our accreditation for a further year.  This confirms our commitment to control processes that define our approach to information security on our platforms.  The certification complements our prior accreditations for the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, recognising both quality management and environmental management.

The work to achieve these has been substantial, and far beyond tick-box exercises.  All three certifications required material improvements to our back-end systems and processes.  For you, that should translate as better support and better services.

WordPress vulnerability scans

Over on our newer WordPress hosting platform, an additional security improvement is now in place.  Automatic vulnerability scans are now performed across our cloud-based WordPress hosting platform.  Should we find a plugin/version that is known to be at risk, a support ticket will be automatically created.  We’ll work with you to identify what should happen next – a version upgrade or maybe even an alternative plugin.
